New Compounded Drugs for MGD and Aqueous Dry Eye

Sunday, December 4th, 2016

Spironolactone (S drug) is a FDA approved drug that I have been recommending for patients who have been to several excellent dry eye specialists, treated maximally with the latest available treatments for dry eye and ocular surface disease and still not getting enough relief of their symptoms. While there is currently no cure, S drug has been helpful to many of my patients. Our formulation is patent pending and proprietary. We do not recommend other compounding pharmacies because of our uniquely tested, quality controlled formulation.

Dapsone (D drug) is another FDA approved drug that has been use for severe surfaces diseases ie Ocular pemphigoid. With our topical dapsone formulation, recalcitrant and unremitting mild to severe ocular inflammation of the conjunctiva will improve acutely and become quiet with chronic use and maintenance therapies. D drug along with S drug may be prescibed together for its additive effects on dry eye. Lastly, D drug is a sulfa derivative and not recommended if you have an allergy to sulfa.
